Quarantine passes are being distributed in cities and municipalities due to the enhanced community quarantine during the Luzon-wide lockdown.
The passes can be used to buy supplies like food and medicine. However, not everyone is provided with a pass; this is to limit and monitor the number of persons who are out of their households.
Cabinet Secretary Karlo Nograles said in a televised briefing that quarantine passes should be free of charge. He stated that some barangays are collecting fees for giving out passes.
In Las Piñas City, they imposed a 24-hour curfew to control the spread of the virus. Barangay CAA in the said city had blocked streets that connect to the barangay market. The residents will only be able to leave their houses with a quarantine pass. Each household is given one quarantine pass only regardless of the number of people or families living inside.
Las Piñas city mayor is providing food for each family. Barangay officials advised the community to put a chair outside their house so that the barangay officials can just drop off the bag of food. Beforehand, some of the barangay officials visited every house to survey the exact number of families living inside and ensure that every family receives a food pack. The bag of food contains canned goods, 2-3 kilos of rice and instant noodles.
