CoviDiary

by Kristella Marie Pel

Alfonso, Cavite- Mayor Randy Salamat started a program called “Dear, CoviDiary”. This program is designed to help in the contact tracing of COVID-19 positive people in Alfonso.

According to Mayor Randy Salamat’s Facebook post, each HQ pass holder and frontline needs to produce a daily CoviDiary (notebook, yellow pad, bond paper) wherein they will make a record of every place they go to. Every week, the Barangay Health Emergency Response Team (BHERT) will collect the CoviDiary so they can consolidate it for easier data collection.

The CoviDiary owner has to be up-to-date with his or her CoviDiary each day to help the contact tracing team monitor where they were going and who had direct contact with them. The owner of the diary should put the specific date, time, and place of their whereabouts. An accurate and efficient contact tracing will help prevent the spread of the virus.

Mayor Randy Salamat has come up with a couple of creative ideas to ensure the safety and welfare of the residents of Alfonso. He also came up with the idea of giving prizes to those barangays with the least number of Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) violators. Starting April 27, 2020 – May 15, 2020, he will give out 10 Lechon baboys to the winning barangay. The said prizes will be donated by the residents of the Alfonso, Ysrael Landico and Dodo Credo. What a fun way to keep the residents home and safe, right?
