Indang Central Elementary School (ICES), One of Cavite’s elementary schools, continues to uplift the 'bayanihan' character of the Filipinos by establishing their school-to-community pantry.
This pantry is to help and supply the communities needs through giving vegetables and seeds that can be planted. These seeds were even taken from the school's own plantation called GPP.
The school-to-community pantry started its operation last May 4 with the leadership and support of Mam Adessa E. Artatez, principal of ICES.
Aside from parents, many witnessed and participated in the program. Nurses, teachers, and many educational stakeholders contributed to support and maintain the pantry.
The first beneficiaries of the pantry were the parents of the students from Special Education (SpEd) and Kindergarten. Due to the continues support, Last May 7, the school also gave goods to the parents of their grade 6 students and others in their community. As of today, 90 individuals received benefits from the ICES community pantry.
“Even before the pantry, may mga lumalapit na rin po upang humingi ng kung anumang meron sa ating gulayan kaya patuloy po tayo sa pamamahagi ng kung anumang mayroon po tayo sa ating GPP,” Sir Carolino C. Ersando, GPP Coordinator/Agriculture Teacher ng ICES said.
This school-to-community pantry have followed and obeyed the IATF guidelines in relation to the covid pandemic. The school used the schedule of the retrieval of modules and opened the pantry at the same time.
As of today, the school-to-community pantry is still ongoing.
