Art Fair PH and Don Papa Rum host their first art competition funding art residency programs across the Philippines from May 6-May 15, 2021, during the launch of Art Fair PH. In partnership with the Bleeding Heart Rum Company, producers of Don Papa Rum, financial assistance will be awarded to five residency programs around the country to support one artist in each residency.
Linangan Art Residency in Alfonso, Cavite is one of the featured residencies to take part in the program, which also included The Orange Project Art Residency in Bacolod, Emerging Islands in La Union, Manila Observatory in Quezon City, and Butanding Barrio in Puerto Princesa.
The Linangan Art Residency Program serves a seven-week residency centered on cultivating artistic and leadership skills through mentored studio practice, art classes, and community-building ventures. Environmental initiatives such as river clean-ups and sustainable farming can be undertaken by the residency artists. There are also informal workshops and discussions on art history and basic art management. The artist must show a new body of work produced during the seven-week residency cycle at the conclusion of the residency period.
The program guidelines expect residencies to feature their activities and art in their respective residencies in order to promote art residency programs, and this may serve as the right to use for Don Papa Rum's branding needs. Additionally, Don Papa Rum will make use of the documents to promote the residency programs. Furthermore, every residency has its own set of rules for talking to artists about nature and their art, whether it is in the form of a workshop, show, or exhibition. As a result, the artist's concept resulting from the residency program will be showcased at Art Fair Philippines 2022.
Art Fair Philippines held its first residency program, Art Fair PH Residencies, to stimulate and encourage art across the country. This event is being held to provide platforms and expand conversations with Filipino artists in all disciplines.
