May 10 2021 - With the presidential decree, Malacañang palace has issued a proclamation that declares May 13, 2021 (Tuesday) a regular holiday of the country. It is for the observance of the feast of Ramadhan named EID'L FITR.
This holiday proclamation no. 1142 is for the whole nation to respect and join their Muslim brothers and sisters in their observance and celebration of Eid'l Fitr.
It is the National Commission on Muslim Filipinos that made the recommendation to declare May 13, 2021 a national holiday.
Eid'l Fitr or Eid Al-Fitr is also called "Festival of breaking the fast." It is the celebration of the end of the 30 day "Ramadan" fast making it a festive day with abundant food.
In the paper where the proclamation is sealed and signed by president Duterte, there is an added statement saying that "the observance and celebration of Eid'l Fitr" is still "subject to community quarantine, social distancing, and other public health measures."
