By Uy, Charissa

Among the 15 selected schools of the Department of Education, Bucal National Integrated School (Maragondon), Indang National Highschool, and Gen. Vito Belarmino Integrated National High School (Silang) were among the announced selected schools in Cavite to engage in the exploration of the new way of providing classes through Google's Online Tools—- Chromebooks commencing in the first week of April, 2021.

The Pilot's goals were to enable teachers and administrators to use Google resources more efficiently in order to promote more interactive classes, both in person and remotely. In addition, assist teachers in enriching their day-to-day teaching activities by incorporating a modern interactive toolset and computer with little to no downtime.

Chromebooks are a new type of laptop that can be used for both traditional and remote learning. It makes learning easier in any situation. Learning can take place anywhere with this new digital device used by the selected schools. Students and educators can use any computer to access their classes, tasks, homework, and other resources. It also helps students plan for the future by involving them in collaborative initiatives that develop their digital skills. Furthermore, it can use the Chromebook App Hub to discover and share new software with educators, making it simple to use for all learners.

The Department of Education led the National Pilot Program in collaboration with Q Software Research Corporation, a Google for Education Partner since 2017 based in Mandaluyong, Manila. They are a Google affiliate for teacher professional development and certification in the Philippines. The company is on a mission to bridge the digital gap between Philippine populations and regions by using Google for Education, a free solution for educational institutions, as well as professional development training for teachers, in order to assist school owners, educators, and students in efficiently using the right technology in their specific 21st-century practices.
