President Rodrigo Duterte has given the order to arrest anyone who will be caught or seen without masks as well as those who are not wearing their masks properly.
The president was made to issue the order due to the increasing number of cases having more than last year.
Many have already been punished in the past months for violating health protocols including the person who died because of extreme punishment. It is not sure yet what the punishment will be for the violators but the justice secretary has suggested to fine the violators and commit them to community service. However, president Duterte was reluctant and said that "My orders to the police are those who are not wearing their masks properly... arrest them and detain them, investigate why they are doing it,".
He also added "It's not for me, it's not for us. It's for the interest of the country so you won't infect and you won't be infected.". The president made it clear in the meeting of the coronavirus task force that police will need to be stricter and tougher on these violators. President Rodrigo Duterte has spoken and given out orders to battle the rising cases of the coronavirus. However, the question remains, will it be effective?
